Our first ever family fun day organised by the wonderful Masons Mobile bar, owned by Paige Auger was held on 4th September 2021 at Freelands Farm in Brightlingsea, Essex.
Paige, who lives in Great Bentley, is a neonatal parent who wanted to help give back to the unit after they supported her son Ace who was born at 34 weeks and had a 10 day stay in the neonatal unit.
With much enthusiasm and gusto, the idea of the family fun day quickly escalated and plans were in full swing, with just a few weeks to prepare, we think Paige did an amazing job organising everything. Of course, we were only too happy to help where we were able to.
Attending the fun day were some amazing stalls, boasting local arts and crafts, produce, entertainment and more. There was a DJ and entertainment throughout the whole event, including a magician, bouncy castle provided by Jo Castles, Alpaca feeding which was kindly organised by the owners of Freeland farm. There was hot food, a licensed bar serving drinks throughout (Masons Mobile bar), face painting, cakes and a whole host of other brilliant stalls to visit.
Funds were raised solely for Wish Upon a Fairy by collecting pitch fees from stallholders, entry fees for guests to the event, we also had our own stall selling homemade cakes and clothing, as well as a very successful raffle!
Amongst the entertainers, there was Boogie Beats Tendring who dressed up as princesses and did lots of dancing and joined in the party games. There was Messy Play, Play Palz Clacton, and a big hit was Reptiles Etc who brought a whole host of little friends with them for the public to meet.
All of us at Wish upon a Fairy was there on the day to help Paige run the event, we were at the gates collecting entry money, giving out fliers, running our own stall as well as selling and drawing the raffle!
It was an exhausting but very fun and successful event and we are so proud and grateful for all that helped make it happen. A massive £1516.00 was raised at the event which will go directly to helping us grant the wishes that the Neonatal unit ask us to!
We look forward to our next events and Christmas is only around the corner…
Lots of love, all the Fairies x
