Christmas is such a magical time of year, but when you have a poorly baby in the hospital, so much of that magic gets taken away, it makes a horrible situation even more horrible. One of our many missions is to try and make times like this a little more pleasant, to put a smile on the faces of those who are not feeling festive.

This year we decided to plan a Christmas party for any parents and families who have had children in the neonatal unit. One of our longer-term plans is to start up support groups where we can host ‘get-togethers’ for any families who have experienced the Neonatal unit, so we can support them in any way possible, let families meet and talk with other parents- including ourselves, who have had similar experiences and also let these more vulnerable babies socialise in a safe environment.

World prematurity day is celebrated on 17th November every year, this is a very special day for all of us at Wish Upon a Fairy. Most of us have experienced or been affected by some degree of prematurity so it’s very close to our hearts. This day is often celebrated with the colour purple!
