Yesterday marked another heartwarming moment in our journey of supporting families at Colchester Hospital. With spring in the air and Easter approaching, we were delighted to deliver specially prepared care packages to bring some festive cheer to those spending the holiday in the hospital.

Our Easter Delivery included:

• A thoughtfully curated Easter hamper for our amazing Neonatal staff
• Special Easter gift bags for parents and their precious little ones in the Neonatal Unit
• 10 additional Easter gift bags for the Children’s Ward, ensuring any babies admitted over the Easter weekend wouldn’t miss out on the celebration

These gestures of care mean so much more than just gifts – they’re about showing families that they’re not alone during what can be a challenging time. We witnessed this firsthand through the touching story of Jasmine-Leigh Scamp, whose little boy was admitted over the Christmas period. After receiving one of our Christmas gift bags, she was so moved by the initiative that she made a generous donation to our cause. Her kindness has come full circle, as we were able to use her contribution towards these Easter gifts, creating a beautiful chain of community support.

It’s stories like Jasmine-Leigh’s that remind us why these small gestures matter so much. When families are going through difficult times, knowing that others care can make such a difference. Her experience over Christmas and subsequent support for our Easter initiative shows how our community continues to grow and support each other.
