World prematurity day is celebrated on 17th November every year, this is a very special day for all of us at Wish Upon a Fairy. Most of us have experienced or been affected by some degree of prematurity so it’s very close to our hearts. This day is often celebrated with the colour purple!
This year a couple of local schools and pre-schools helped us with celebrating alongside raising money for Wish Upon a Fairy. To do this they held ‘wear purple to school day’ and collection buckets were available for parents and carers to generously donate. They managed to raise over £500 which is absolutely amazing!! We are so very grateful.
We also love to hear stories or milestones celebrated by families and they’re poorly or premature babies and we make sure to share these things from our very own little miracles on our social media platforms too, we have a special parents group on Facebook, we love to give parents this safe place to talk about their babies if they want to?
Around 1 in 13 babies will be born prematurely (before 37 weeks) in the UK, so it’s very important for people to have some awareness around it ?♀️
