MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM OUR HEARTS TO YOURS
Published December 4, 2023

As we embrace the magical spirit of Christmas 2024, our hearts are filled with both joy and thoughtfulness for all the families spending their holiday season in the hospital. From your past interactions and dedication to supporting NICU families, I can see how meaningful these initiatives are to you.

We’re delighted to announce that we’ve prepared special Christmas gifts for every precious baby and their families in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. We understand that spending your baby’s first Christmas in the NICU wasn’t part of any parent’s dream, but we hope these gifts bring a spark of joy during this time.

For many families, the NICU journey can span weeks or months, and we know the holiday season can be particularly challenging. As one NICU mom, Ally, shared, “Christmas Day was split between meeting Santa in the NICU with Kodah and home with our other children. The nurses made it special with gifts for Kodah’s first Christmas and keepsakes to remember how big he was on that day”

We’ve also ensured that no child on the children’s ward will miss out on the magic of Christmas, with presents prepared for every young patient spending their holiday there. These gifts are our way of saying “we care” and bringing a touch of festive cheer to their hospital stay.

Some ways we’re making the season special:

  • Personalized gifts for each NICU baby
  • Special presents for siblings and parents
  • Festive decorations for the units (where permitted)
  • Support for families navigating this journey

Remember, whether you’re celebrating a joyful Christmas or experiencing a more gentle one this year, your journey matters, and you’re not alone. Some families might be experiencing their “first Christmas in the NICU with their tiny warriors, while others might be remembering past NICU Christmases”

We’re thinking of:

  • The dedicated NICU staff working through the holidays
  • Families splitting time between home and hospital
  • Parents spending their first Christmas with their NICU warriors
  • Every child making the hospital their temporary home this season

As we’ve learned, Christmas in the NICU can be transformed into a special memory with the right support and understanding. Whether you’re participating in holiday activities on the unit or taking a quieter approach, know that we’re thinking of you all.
